Our culture is the milieu in which we swim, it’s so all-pervasive and subtle to us that we don’t notice how much it influences all of our thoughts, our actions and our interactions. And we’ll swim in this milieu, this section of the ocean of Consciousness designated as us, no matter what, assuming that everything we need to know about the water is already known, for the most part.
But what if we question what we know? What if we explore the finer subtleties of the water in which we swim? When we do that we find that our culture is one of constant expansion at the cost of human life, the environment and the sense of separation from our interconnected state with the universe. For recorded history, it is aggressive and violent and centered on an either/or – me vs. you – mentality. This is Hypermasculine culture which sees everything as less than, that bulldozes through every problem, that tries to fix every perceived wrong and is exclusively mind-oriented. i.e. always searching for a strategy to get to our perfect self, or at least that ideal of self that society says we’re supposed to be.
And within this Hypermasculine cultural background, the guardian ego has arisen that keeps our essential self hidden behind veils of obscurity, because, for some reason, Hypermasculine culture denies our essential well-being, our authentic nature and our connectedness to Consciousness. But what is interesting here is that the veils of obscurity typically only hide us from us, others seem more capable of seeing our essential self than we are and that accentuates the problem needing fixing.
In this presentation we will look at our Hypermasculine culture, this thing we call ego and why we think we need to fix ourselves.
